HARTSHORNE INVESTS IN VW IN THE MIDLANDS

The midlands biggest commercial vehicle distributor, the Hartshorne Group, has invested £2m in a new state of the art Volkswagen Van Centre that has opened for business on the busy Black Country Route at Trinity road, Bilston, Staffs – off M6 (Junc 10).

The opening strengthens Hartshorne’s position in the all-important van market, the more so as the Bilston van centre now provides a permanent home in the region to the VW franchise that even when operating from temporary headquarters racked up sales that took Hartshorne to the second slot in VW’s UK chart!

Covering two acres, the new Volkswagen Van Centre at Bilston employs 50 and is open seven days a week, the new and used sales and rental operations being complemented by a high-tech seven bay workshop, with a further bay for Class4 and Class7 MoTs.

Also, the VW franchise fits comfortably with that of Isuzu and Volvo Truck to provide Hartshorne with full coverage of the commercial vehicle weight sectors from the lightest VW Caddy van through to the mighty Volvo FH16 heavy truck. The opening at Bilston, plus further expansion planned for the VW franchise at Shrewsbury, therefore marks yet another step in Hartshorne’s advance toward the creation of an effective one-stop-shop able to meet the needs of commercial vehicle operators across the midlands.

Speaking at the opening Hartshorne group sales director Brian Bachelor said: ‘Having established ourselves as one of Britain’s foremost Volvo and Isuzu distributors, we now also specialise in VW’s commercial range. This means we can now supply a vast selection of commercial vehicles and provide support for all from the 819kg payload van upward to all from the sole proprietor to the major fleet owner and corporate customer. Couple this with the fact that we now employ more than 600 at more than 15 outlets across the region means we are well placed to provide all operators in the region with a first class service across the board.’
